 This Regional Local Government Executive agrees to adopt the following elements as part of an overall strategy to secure a satisfactory resolution of the London Weighting dispute, to recommend these elements to the joint union strike committee, and to seek the necessary approvals from within UNISON:

This week there are several members of the Branch Committee at annual conference and so there are only two of us in the branch office.
This may mean that calls take longer than usual to be dealt with.

Islington UNISON is holding a branch meeting on Friday 31st May.
It will be in the Union Chapel at 12.30
The agenda is:
*Next strike days over the £4,000 London weighting claim, and strategy for winning the dispute
*Negotiation reports
*National ballot over national pay claim
*Crisis situation in PCS Civil Service union

In a report posted on their website, the Council has posted a document stating that they are considering paying a new scale of salaries to themselves.
These are proposed as follows:
Leader £43,500 plus £8,500
Executive Members + Chair of Overview Cttee £31,500 plus £8,500
Chairs of Review Committees, Chief Whip,Leader of Opposition £16,500 plus £8,500
Chair of Corporate Services CtteeChairs of Area Cttees, Opposition Whip, Majority Group Chair, Mayor
£5,500 plus £8,500
Basic Allowance to all Councillors -£8,500
Total cost for all of this is:
£861,500
